Chieftain ir detector.

Post by Steve Norris »

I am looking for some decent images of the ir detector mounted behind the commander’s coupola, typically I was at the model show at Bovington last weekend and didn’t get a single photo of it.

Steve

Hi Vincent and Charles.
Thanks for the posts, both are very useful.
There are at least 2 variations of the installation, one as Charles has done and another with the ir detector as per Charles set up but with a longer cable conduit and the armoured shroud further inboard. My plan is to do the second version.
Charles, if you have some dimensions it would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Steve

Here's a few alternatives, with or without detector (weather protection plug cover in place). Best guess for sizing

Hi Vince,
I am interested that you are interested : 8)
Do these help ?

Chieftain was designed in imperial, so I find that most measurements only really start to make sense when rounded to the nearest 1/8 of an inch or so.
