Leopard 2A7V

Hi all,

yes the subject is right. I plan to modify the Leopard 2A4 kit to a the newest revision of German Armed Forces with interior as far as possible
I started designing the interior after placing an order for the new kit. This is my new challenge. First of all I collected information from the web, from a 1:35 kit with full interior, taking my own pictures at the original and interviewed some crew members. Initially I started with desingning the interior for the 2A4 but later on I switched to the 2A7V according to the nice displays. And the plan is to use real TFT displays in the model too.
Here some special functions I plan to realize:
  • camera placed inside the Peri 17A3 (realized)
  • live video from Peri 17A3 camera shown at TFT monitor (already working)
  • endless movement of Peri 17A3 (realized by gear motor placed inside Peri 17A3)
  • situation/map shown at commanders Vistamaster Display (already working)
  • intercommunication system for all crew members with real display (all 4 realized)
  • joystick for Peri 17A3 animated (realized)
  • system control unit with real TFT display (realized)
  • camera placed inside the EMES 15A2 (planned)
  • live video from EMES 15A2 shown at TFT monitor (already working)
  • control unit for gunner animated (already working)
  • situation/map shown at loaders Vistamaster Display (already working)
  • SPECTUS display showing live video(planned)
  • driving wheel animated (realized)
  • drivers hatch animated (already working)
  • ammunition storage compartment door animated (planned)
  • endless movement of turret by using IR transmitter based system (planned)
  • autonomuos supply voltage placed in turret (planned)
  • ...
In total I will use multiple Arduino NANO and ESP32 controllers 8)

Below some pictures to provide an impression about the status of my design work. And I do not have detailled information from Amortek but my design can be adapted to the kit later on.
May be Armortek is willing to provide me some information about diameter of the turret ring, thickness of turret roof, thickness of hull roof, ...

Hi Gunter.
A very ambitious project, certainly looking forward to it.

However your pictures didn't work :?

unfortunately they don't on my computer, probably me. so I will look again later.

Best of luck with the build, as and when.

Regards

Charles

I can see the photos (on phone) by pressing at the text until it shows "show picture".

Anyway I have also been thinking in that term.
Im a gunner on a swedish stridsvagn 122 (Leopard 2A5+) and would love to have a model on a tank I've served with. But to me it probably would be too much work and I dont have the possibility to make the parts (no 3D-printer, tools and so on).

The best workaround I used was to right click the image placeholder and then click on "Open image in new tab".
All these images are stored on his web server and you can see some of them here:
http://www.panther-tanks.de/
Look in the directory under "RC models 1:6"

P.S. Awesome drawings

Hello Günter!
Great idea!
This is a big challenge, but doable for you.
I'm looking forward to the continuation of the construction report.

Hello all,
I have finished the initial design of the EMES 15A2

The doors will be actuated by a mini servo and an ESP32-CAM will capture pictures

I have added the mesh to two parts

Initially I planned to use a COTS mesh. However, this didn't work as expected. Now I plan do solder it by myself
