Leopard 2 Prototype

Post by Armortek »

Exciting day today - the order for the tracks have been placed ... that means production volumes are now fixed. If you have not reserved your kit, better hurry up as we will not be able to make more.

The track is the most convoluted we have made so far - it consists of 6 different parts with a total of 9 pieces making up one track.
- The track link
- 2 end connectors
- 1 central connector
- 1 track pin
- 2 rubber pads (vulcanised to the base plates)
- 2 pad base plates

The track links will be made from aluminium and the moulds will take 1-2 months to perfect - so we always need to get these on order pretty early in the production lifecycle.

In addition we have placed the order for the moulds for the rubber tyres since these also always take a while to make.

Will the kit contain the 18 grousers which are used to replace the same number of rubber pads when travelling over icy ground. These are normally carried/stored on the bow of the tank when not in use?
David.

Roadwheels coming together nicely.
They are made from pressed and laser welded steel with an aluminium hub and hub cap and rubber tyres.

The assembly in the photographs (excluding the tracks) is 0.66 kg.
