Mick's Churchill (57)
Good morning everyone, and finally something for the weeks ahead...all to soon the Autumn will blow in and Winter is coming
Browsing the Armortek shop, my watery eyes alighted on the low sleek lines of the Churchill Mark 111. Enough of that...looking forward to this build with many Churchills already advancing into the fray....Have a nice day...Mick

Good afternoon chaps, what a gloriously sunny day. Etch primed the lower hull parts, just had to make use of this lovely weather...also cut the lawn, so there.
Couple of routine photo's taken in the paint shop and on the workbench...Mick

Good evening gents, waiting for the storm, very oppressive outside...we could do with a drop of rain. Posting an update the Churchill is going together nicely, most therapeutic....Mick

Re: Mick's Churchill (57)
Thank you Adrian, and good morning men, an internet search reveals '' a hull boss is a term used to describe a location for a secondary weapon mounted on the hull of a tank'' strange location on the Churchill so, there you go, never knew that.....it would be a surprise if you were looking to place a mine...Mick

I take it you are referring to EX0129 at the back of the floor pan. I think this is meant to be the convoy light, it matches the location shown on page 115 of the Haynes manual showing the wiring, tail light and convoy light positions and makes sense if you want to restrict the light spread.
It is in the wrong location to be an engine or gearbox drain. The engine sump plug is directly below the turret bin area if you look at the side of the tank as a reference. The gearbox location doesn't line up either.
I am planning on having the lights working so will try and confirm this as it would be easy to install a small dome head led in that position.
Regards
Gary

Hello Gary and thank you for the information...it all makes sense now.... a convoy light would make a nice addition. I have the Haynes manual. I quite like these little extra touches, must make a note for later in the build....Mick

Re: Mick's Churchill (57)
Good morning all, some re-arranging needed. The problem with a small work area...you have to keep on moving parts around. Never mind, I enjoy the exercise.
Suspension unit,,,.I gather and identify the parts shown, then a dry run....I know, it's all been done before
Note; It is a little late now however, if you want to set the hull to one side, and out of your way. Do not lower the hull onto the floor 'front edge' first, as you run the risk of bending part number EX0116 .....Mick

Good morning all, looking outside Autumn is coming...
Fitted the brass bushes, once the loctite had set I test fitted the axles and pivot shafts, careful use of the reamer eased any tight spots. All is well.
Have a nice day....Mick
