Track tension

Having problems adjusting the track. It is bunching up prior to the bottom of the sprocket. I have adjusted the track tensioner as much as I can but track still too loose. I have tried taking out a link with adjuster backed right off but no way will that happen. Anybody else had the same problem. It's not my half track just repairing it for someone else.
Dennis.

Make shure the sprocket diameter is the right size.

I haven't seen that on my Sd.Kfz.7 but I've noticed in on other models from time to time what either the sprocket and tracks were not aligned well
or the sprocket teeth and corresponding engagement holes in he track links had very tight clearance.
Not saying either of these is the case with the model in front of you but worth a look. Also the condition you describe sometimes occurs more when
reversing than going forward.
