While getting to the closing stages of my Hetzer I am at the point of bench testing everything. This means setting up the controller and while I understand the concept of setting up the inputs and mixes the execution is a complete mystery to me. I have tried setting things up in the Open TX companion but can't seen to get the outputs to work when I simulate it. Have trawled the internet most of the guides seem to be for earlier versions of the controller and reference things that mine does not have. Checking the guides posted elsewhere here make a little more sense but only seem to illustrate one side of other of the input/mix equation and trying to tie them together is proving frustrating. I can't post any 'how far are you?' pics as the answer is 'nowhere'. Can anyone assist in how to get things started as my comprehension has failed me completely and I would pefer my Hetzer be more than a static model.

It will help if you can post photo of the model profile you are using. In order to show what you've done so far.

I suggest the mix and output screens for starters.

Also I posted some rudimentary examples in another thread somewhere here on the forum; can't lay my fingers on it at the moment.

I would think the default outputs would get you started; they may not work the way you want in their default state but they should be there.

I've printed several screens from my M3 Lee configuration including the radio and output simulation screens. Hopefully this might
help and not confuse the issue. Even though these systems are capable of far more than I need or can use I like the flexibility although I
adhere to the KISS principle when setting them up. Mostly because I'll likely forget how I did what I did!

The outputs screen is useful as it gives you n idea what will happen when you move a control without actually running over your sandwich with your model...

Looks OK, but you don't need to duplicate the stick movement into the two throttle inputs.

I name the inputs on the Inputs screen RSUP (Right Stick Up Down), RSLR (Right Stick Left Right) etc. That way I know what input I'm actually looking at in the Mixes screen, as I can never remember which stick movement is which name.

If you plug the tracks into CH1 & CH2 on the receiver, you should have life.

I'm fussy and want +100% to make both tracks go forwards, so I usually end up having to swap at least one motor wiring to get the desired direction of rotation.

Thank you for all the information, it definitely helps! Unfortunately my whole radio setup must be cursed as when I tried to bind my RX8R receiver that didn't work either, rather than the flashing LEDS during the process I got both red and green on solidly and no bind. Really wishing my old Futaba worked as it was far less hassle than this.

Daniel please check the protocol type selected on the setup screen. I believe the normal mode for your receiver should be D16.
Not sure if your transmitter has the External XJT module...

This is a starting point to diagnose the problem.

Checked the setup, I not have an external RF so the only options are Access or ACCST D16. Tried both , same result. Both LEDS solid on and no bind when trying to er, bind the with the transmitter.

Daniel - the only time we have had issues binding the Frysky transmitter and receiver is when they were on different versions of the firmware. Unfortunately when you buy these transmitters and receivers in the UK it seems like a bit of lottery as to which firmware version they are on so we have started flashing all the ones we buy in before we even bother binding.

Updating the firmware is relatively easy.

You will need a micro SD card and RC cable that you will need to change a couple of wire around on.

Firmware can be downloaded from here and there are videos on youtube to show you the process.

Thanks for the pointers, it was the wrong protocol after all. After making up the right cable I flashed the receiver from EU to FCC and it it now bound to the transmitter
Now on to the original challenge, getting the OpenTX config loaded.

It's odd and unfortunate that the sellers to users in your area don't pay more attention to where their purchasers are.

Flexibility is a decidedly double edged sword. On one hand it allows for all manner of creativity but on the other you can buried it bits and bytes
so thoroughly it takes more than a trivial effort to get one's head out of the mud...

Still when I think of all the physical setup hoops I had to jump through with my first Futaba FP-T6FN system, servo 'savers' were
my savior, I'll take the bits and bytes any day...

Extremely frustrating....

I 'thought'I had cracked this setup business with a setup that, when simulated in the OpenTX Companion appeared to give the the outputs I wanted. So I loaded it onto my transmitter and got...well....if I move the right stick left the left hand sprocket goes backwards, other than that...nothing.
Furthermore when I look at the the channel monitor on the transmitter itself the outputs in no way match what I had on the Companion which I guess is why I'm getting what I'm getting.

Fixed it! Turns out I needed to calibrate the sticks on the tranmitter, something I either overlooked or didn't even consider but thanks to a random Youtube video I now have the controller doing what I want, at least as far as the drive sprockets are concerned.

I'm looking for a solution to a problem that a few seem to have, on the standard mix when driving at full speed when you turn the inner track slows down. This is correct, but at part throttle the inner track slows down but the outer track increases speed until it reaches full speed which is not desirable.
Anyone care to share the solution if any to this problem.
I have spent a long time on this and can't find it.

You can see it in the PC simulator or on the channel monitor on the radio.

Ideally want the inner track to slow down regardless of tank speed, I have 3 speed options set but each time you turn the outer track increases.
