Prototyping of the Series 1 has started. Progress will be a bit start and stop as we wait for sample leaf springs, wheels and tyres to arrive.

Prototype steel wheels have arrive - pictures below show the wheels with and without the hub.
They are a thing of beauty - laser welded like the Pershing roadwheels with a nice weight to them.

Prototyping is progressing well.

The car looks like it was left in a rough part of town, lifted onto breeze blocks and stripped !

I just contacted with my pre-order!!!

Awesome! So glad you guys are doing this.

Sorry for the long hiatus. Farm work and some firearms projects are taking up time.

But I should be back on my Ghost chassis this summer and finishing that up... and I can't wait to tackle the "Four x Four Car."

Awesome!

Prototype tyres have come in. They may have cost an arm and a leg, but they do look very good indeed.
We have gone for softer rubber this time to provide the vehicle with more grip.

This is the very first run of the Armortek 1950's Series 1 80" wheelbase 4x4 car.

A seen, the car weights just under 7kg (15lbs). We probably have another 1.5 - 2.5 kg of metal bodywork to add to the model before it is complete.

The test was to validate the 4 wheel drive train and the vehicle speed and proved a success. We don't have the steering servo installed yet and nor are the fenders attached (hence the rattling sound). The whine that you can hear on reverse is caused by the jerry rigged front wheel brace rubbing on the wheel hubs.

Next we will get steering working and then run the model cross country.

Body work is all done - the Series 1 is now off to get measured up for the cloth roof.

Top part of the door is removable. Our resident chap, aka the green Ken, shows off the size of the model.

The kit does not come with mud - you will need to provide your own :-)

I have always been curious of the purpose of that big hole in the back bumper on the real thing.
Has it got to do with the rear differential?

Hi Vince,

I have no idea what this additional equip is (a belt pulley unit ?), but it did go through that big hole for some purpose.
