Spektrum DX8g2 Elevon setup

Hi all, I have given up struggling with Open TX for now and gone back to a Spektrum DX8 gen2 TX as I am more familliar with the Spektrum UI and at getting the Benedini encoder to work is reasonably straightforward.
So, having just got this DX8g2 working on my Panther, i have an issue that i cant seem to fix.
I set TX to Mode 2 and then set the Aircraft type to Elevon-B and this has the forward/reverse and steering on the right stick which is what i wanted.
However, Forward and Reverse with both tracks driving in same direction is on the left/right axis and the steering is on the forward/reverse axis which is not ideal.
I have tried to modify the Channel assignments but nothing has fixed it yet.
Channels setup are as follows:
1. Throttle-Throttle (Gun Elevation)
2. Aile-Left Ail (Tracks)
3. Elev-Right Ail (Tracks)
4. Rudd-Rudder (Turret Traverse)
5. Gear-Gear (Lights)
6. Aux1-Inhibit (Not used)
7. Aux2-Aux2 (Benedini Rotary Encoder)
8. Aux3-Aux3 (Hull MG Servo)
Everything else is working correctly
The wiring and Receiver in the tank was not changed so is exactly as it was when i last used it with the DX9 radio and i did not have this issue.
Any sugestions on how to fix this?
Cheers
Tim
