Panther 18
Evening folks.
Just a note to inform the world of tanks that No.18 has arrived. Having looked through the destructions it could be possible that it will proceed ahead of KT 40.
The Chieftain (34) though is still the priority.
Bagging rights, if that's the correct term, I am looking at the Houffalise Panther. However, this is only provisional. I am open to any info regarding this subject.
In the meantime, I think at some Armopax parts are required to embellish this model.
Enjoy your builds.

Re: Panther 18
A Cunning Plan
Good afternoon All.
After I had posted a comment on Gary's Panther thread, Gary asked after my build which is fair enough, so here we go
Chieftain and cold weather certainly don't help. Presently undergoing the AT "apprenticeship" with said Chieftain, so I am planning the next two builds(Panther18 & KT40) very carefully and watching other builds too. Personally I have learnt an awful lot from the forum, all useful
To date I have put together my three spare road wheels and by way of research; painted them
The other element I have had a look at is the floor plan (cunning bit). A friendly local printer was able to print out a floor plan to the dimensions of the kits floor. Obviously for personal use only
So that is it for now and as ever always open to constructive observations.
Have a good weekend.

Re: Panther 18
Hi all.
Hope everyone is have a lovely Easter weekend, nice to see lots of activity.
For the last week I have been working on No 18's road wheels. The reason is, I have discovered I have some out of date glue(Loctite480), it is still liquid(thanks Brian) but I don't wish waste it.
I was hoping to put a top coat on and glue the tyres(tires) on today, but its to windy
I am not sure what folks thoughts are regarding the build of the road wheels. I have opted for using m2.5x8mm buttons as studs, loctited in, for the outer, inner road wheels.
I have also milled down the wheel rims, which I think look a lot better.
Cheers all

Re: Panther 18
Marco.
You are right. Kwk 40(ish & some nice decals), so I might get away with these for my PKW IV. However I could use some decals for the KwK42 I have from Armopax, any ideas/suggestions.
Always open to constructive ideas.

Re: Panther 18
Evening folks.
A beautiful morning meant I was able to top coat some of the road wheels
Hopefully I will get the tyres attached tomorrow with my out of date(still liquid) glue
And yes I have seen the dent and will attend to it. Funny how a photo shows up things you haven't noticed
have a good one.

Evening all
Once again dodging showers and trying to paint stuff, but we are getting there.
And the endless pot of out of date glue still goes on

Re: Panther 18
Those rims look really nice after windy Miller finished with them. I bet they'll afford a bit of clearance too now when fitted. Always nice to have a bit of clearance with interleaving wheels.
Glad the loctite 480 held out.
It's a very enjoyable job after completion.

Re: Panther 18
Hi all.
All tyres fitted and no glue wasted
Playing with the steel tracks I acquired last year just to see how they look:-
And there is some room for the track horns too:-
Now I will pack them away until it is time for the rest of the tank to be built.
Cheers

Re: Panther 18
Afternoon all.
Hope everyone's having a pleasant B/Hol. As is typical its raining here
Stayed in and pottered, as you do. I still had the Panther wheel hubs lying around, waiting to try the magnets I have ordered. I found a piece of thin brass, a punch(2.5mm) and:-
The wheel is going to be a spare, the unpainted nuts should leave a shadow once removed after weathering, I hope.
Cheers

Re: Panther 18
Good evening everyone.
Due to the poor weather lately I have been stuck inside doing small stuff for the models I have.
One such task was mainly completed today, some fine tuning with the Dremel still required.
Does anyone out there have a decent picture/photo of fittings "1" in the above?
I have one that only shows a segment of the fitting. I think the last time we at Bovington we were get funny looks photographing the rear of their Panther. I am sure they wouldn't be to pleased to see visitors disappearing underneath the vehicles
Need to pack up now and hide things for the next couple of days.
Wishing you all a good Christmas & New Year.
