Why make fake welds when you can have real welds?

Only drawback is very high cost of these machines but there's a lot of potential here...they can make beautiful 'micro' welds...

Well of course. I wouldn't advocate welding up a model completely! Just those ancillary bits that could be welded without affecting
maintenance access. I have an aversion to sticking goo on my models to simulate welds. I've tried it, am reasonably good at applying it and it looks good
mostly but I just don't like it. It's one of my many quirks developed over years in the hobby...like spending a small fortune to buy an all metal model only to glue resin parts on it; I realize there are good reasons to do so but I am not a fan either. I think the latter comes from me being clumsy and dangerous around breakable things. I did use a few on my Lee but I give them wide berth when around that model and keep an eye on making metal versions of them.

I'm nothing without my quirks.
