Armortek

Hi All

This is my first Armortek so complete novice.
I've ordered the latest panther release which I hope to receive in the next couple of weeks.
I have been collecting aftermarket part from mark lawson, Armorpax superb quality items.
however I'm still looking for bits.
Field of Armor does most of the bit's I'm looking for unfortunately I have been warned to avoid ordering from Them..
Looking for the cable that goes around the reel next to the jack block not supplied in the kit
And the larger jack block and bracket not the one in kit which looks like the A,D version
And lastly chains for the pins that hold the track links and c shackles
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Gary,

Regarding the items you are looking for. The reel is for barbed wire and this can be found on auction sites just search for 1/6th barbed wire. The jack block and bracket are easy to make in wood and copper strip with a bit of soldering. This is an easy way to get into soldering copper a skill you will need as a tank builder, alternatively use super glue or small pins. Lastly, various sized chains can be obtained from model shops that do ship models or again use auction sites. It is all out there somewhere. Good huntin'.

Really appreciate the reply, be honest I would prefer to buy ready made parts, The workmanship on the forum is incredible.
however if none are available then I will have to look into doing them myself may take some practice Lol!

Hi guys, just for clarity, The reel mounted close to the jack block on the right side of the Panther ausf.G is not for barbed wire at all.
It is actualy used to hold a 14mm diameter cable which is 15m long with an eylet at each end. Essentially a smaller version of the main towing cables.
This cable was used to assist with track replacements.
I hope this info will be of use.

Thanks very much that really helps I've been trying to figure out what size I would need for the reel.
Do you know what it works out scale wise?

Hi Gary, well, 14mm divided by 6 is 2.3mm and 15m divided by 6 is 2.5 meters long.

I found some old multi strand wire which was 2.2mm so used that.
I dont think i did mine full length as it would not all fit though.

Hi Gary,
Just to put a bit more meat on the bone from the points that Tim made, the following 2 photographs show the 15 metre cable in use to pull the track on. Hope this helps in some small way.

That must have been a real b***h of a job in cold, wet and muddy conditions.
I can only imagine the effort required to do that - I have an original Panther track link at home which weighs aprox 19kg.
There would be 86 links per side.

Hi,

As one tracklink itself was very heavy they used the tank’s own power resources to pull the complete track into place - with the cable fixed onto the drive sprocket.
Or they used another vehicle’s help.
