We have reworked our smoke option pack. Key features of the new smoke unit are:
1. The volume of exhaust smoke is now linked to the engine sound
- Smoke generation starts and stops with the engine
- On start up there is a burst of exhaust smoke that reduces when the engine idles
- When driving the volume of exhaust smoke increases
2. Larger volume of smoke is now generated
3. Unit design is more compact
The video below show the smoke unit in action on the Churchill MK III equipped with a double smoke unit.
The new smoke unit costs £160 (excl VAT) for the single unit and £300 (excl VAT) for the double smoke unit.
The new smoke unit will be available for all tanks from the 10th September.

A few answers to questions we have already been asked:
1. DO I NEED AN AUDIO MODULE FOR THIS TO WORK ?
The smoke unit connects to both the power supply as well as the Audio Module. It no longer connects to the motion module.
Therefore, you need an audio module for this to work.
2. IS MY SYSTEM FROM XX YEARS AGO COMPATIBLE?
All RED BOX audio modules sold since August 2020 will be compatible with this system.
3. IF I HAVE A COMPATIBLE SYSTEM CAN I UPGRADE BY SMOKE MODULE ?
Yes, you can change the wiring loom to the new setup.

Evening all.
Red boxes since 2020, will that exclude Chieftain?
If it dosen't then I would be very interested, My KT could use this unit too.
Out of interest what stops these units being retro fitted to older models?

I must admit, I've not been a fan of smoke units but this new thingamajig looks well.
That said here in Sunny California I might be cited for pollution!
Good job Armortek folks!

If I put in the twin unit running track mixing does that mean left and right will be different volumes on hard rotations?

No --> "It no longer connects to the motion module."

If you have an Audio Module that you bought from us between Jan 2016 and August 2020 and you are interested in the new smoke module, you would need contact us first with details on what you have - it is likely that the new smoke module would work but your audio module will need reprogramming.
Audio Modules from before Jan 2016 are not compatible.

That "connector" is the transistor which controls the speed of the fan, so it doesn't need to be connected to anything
