My next addition to the recoil and gun smoke is a muzzle flash.
I intend to have the e-cigarette at the end of the Jagdtiger barrel so this leaves me with a little space around the top to have a cluster of 3mm LEDs maybe 9-12 if I can find the space.
Im using multiple colours to test but my testing isnt looking very bright, and our other tank with an indicator bulb in the barrel seems better.
Any other solutions or ideas around, I know Stephen has a laser and Armortec use a tri LED which I can find very little information or picture about.

Re: muzzle flash
Well, I used an amber hipower LED (3 watts) and a self made electronic to fade out the beam after shooting........
kind regards
Gerhard

Re: muzzle flash
As Gerhard says he built a circuit as an addon to the standard flash output wiring. I'd be careful what component loading changes are made, otherwise you could possibly damage the sound card, pulling too much current.
"Trigger" circuits are reasonably easy to build using opto transistors. Then any size lamp or flash units could be used within reason.
In the past I've used disposable camera flash units that has many more flashes in them than the thirty six normally used.
I brought a nice little compact 1/16 heng long flash unit some time ago it, should be pretty easy to work out how to trigger it.
(Remembering these things can give you a HV belt if you not careful)

Oh Man, I only ride em I don't know what makes them work,

Re: muzzle flash
Well, I should have remarked that I generally don't use electronics from Armortek. The simple reason for that is that I have none.....
My muzzle flash is controlled by a relay which is triggered by an output channel of my Beier sound module. Therefore the control circuit and the power circuit are totally seperated. The power circuit also serves the wiper motor for the gun barrel recoil. Served with 24 V, this 12 V motor is fast enough for the barrel running back. For the foreward moving the motor is delayed by diodes.
The muzzle flash fading is stopped after a very short time because this looks better than a fully fading over seconds when discharging a capacitor.

I’m using similar to you, nothing Armortek and Beier for sound and control. I’m thinking about using 3 led colours that are timed from Beier to turn on and off at pre determined times. Eg white on then yellow, orange, then orange off, yellow, white off or similar. Beier can control all of this easily.

Re: muzzle flash
Paul, IMHO you are quite right........
All my models came without any electrical inner workings, partially without or even with impractical driving motors (!). So I am accustomed to search and install my own components.
