July 2020
Spending some attention to the sponsons doors

On with a new post for the few connoisseurs of WWI armour

Completing the mechanics of the sponsons, the potential of improvements for the sponson doors hit my eyes and because I had already realized so many additional details, I didn‘t want to slacken down here.

In the original MKIV, it used the lower part of the door to eject the empty bullet casings.
In the kit, this detail was a very beautiful milled aluminum block.
However, this made it impossible to see the function this protrusion had.

This ejector for the empty cartridges was again constructed from sheet copper after a sketch and a model made of cardboard and then riveted.
The cut-out for the door in the sponson also had to be adapted to the original.

Best regards
Oliver

August to December 2020
And some more attention to the doors ...

It was already predictable. Now that the lower parts of the door are very similar to the original, I of course had to go the extra mile and create the latch, the pistol lock and the vision slits. With these additional details, the doors again show the full function of the original.

You don‘t see them most of the time, but it‘s good to know they are there. If you are interested, you can open them and explain the individual functions. This brings history back to life a little bit.

Best Regards
Oliver

Amazing Oliver , have you tried a 12" Dragon figure in there? They represent a generally modern well fed ( when a child ) reasonably tall individual and they don't fit! Short arses are great for afv's and we need one for our Centurion ! :D

Hello Phil,

I have a dragon figure for the tank but have not yet thought about where and how it might fit.But I know the problem that the guys have with their size and the mobility to fit into the model.
Here only courageous sawing apart will help – a different kind of plastic surgery :-)

Good luck with the surgery for the crew of the Cent.

Nov/Dec 2020
Where to Place the dam… colour blotches >third<

The camouflage pattern is extended for the third time.
The Sponsons should be designed to match the rest of the model. This was a bit more difficult than I had imagined because a few times, camouflage patches with the same colors clashed, and also the size of the areas could not simply be made smaller to solve this little mishap. Then it was back to painting.

Best regards
Oliver

Jay - the first overall impression!

Finally, I could experience the model‘s camouflage scheme for the first time. I was largely satisfied with the result. But 100 years ago, the originals were clean and without scratches only for a few hours when they got their new paint at the B.A.K.P. in Morceau Sur Sambre.

Best wishes
