Thanks Vince. Its taken more than a few days of head scratchin to get this far. I'm happy with it so far.
Hope you are staying well and busy with projects!

All OK here Bob. Haven't done any metal butchering since finishing the Tiger 1. I guess I have run out of steam for now. Started drawing a 3d model of the Tiger 1 but lost interest also. Enjoy following all the builds here and occasionally help out with .stl, .stp and .dxf files.

I know that feeling. Happened to me when doing the muzzle brake. Some things are hard to implement in a 3d model but I blame my inexperience for that.

Are you going to scratch build that cupola? I guess it's too big to print on a home 3d printer.

hi Vince,
I'm thinking about getting a large scale resin printer (Anycubic Mono) so I can print it in one piece. For the first time on the Elegoo I will break it into 3 pieces and bond it together. Giving away all my trade secrets. LOL.
Cheers,
B

After few attempts it looks like a cupola. Hoping to get a larger printer and attempt a one piece print. So far so good, still tweaking the design a bit.
Thanks for looking in.

Which slicer are you using Bob? I don't think it's Lychee. Is it Chitubox or the Elegoo slicer?

Hello Vince its Chitubox 1.9. So far its working well. I have Lychee but have not printed anything with it.
I had several print fails, but nothing to do with slicer. One of the fails poked a hole in my FEP and it leaked resin onto the LCD. All good after a change of FEP. The fails were caused by lack of supports in some areas. Even the 3 pieces are pretty big parts.
Best regards,
Bob

Thanks for the info Bob. I am at the moment actively thinking of getting my first 3D printer and it will be a resin printer but smaller than what you're getting. At the moment my favorite is the Anycubic Photon Mono 4X. It is supported by Lychee but not Chitubox.

Maybe finally I will see some of my 3D models actually come to life.

Yeah I agree with Phil - get it and don't look back. My little Elegoo Mars (original) is still plugging along fine. Its been amazing for ~ $250USD invested. The new mono screens are even better. FDM printers have a lot of uses too. Its a whole new dimension to the hobby. As good as your models are you will love seeing them come to life.

I'm thinking of sticking with Elegoo for now. I've heard lots of reviews love the Anycubic but dislike the Anycubic slicer. Lychee is a nice platform - I just haven't printed anything yet with it. Its like switching paddles half way across a river. 8) So far Chitubox 1.9 is working well for me.

Let us know what you decide.

A few more bits added to Sherm. Not as much progress as I'd like. Enjoy.

A little paint on the printed cupola prototype.
