Tiger 1 and 2 Late Cupola and Upgrade Kits Updated

Post by Mike Stannard (toyrific) »

Hi Guys

Having cast the metal parts for the Tiger 1 and 2 cupola I need to update you all. As this is kind of complicated and there are some slight changes to the different kit contents I am making a new post to avoid confusion. There has been no changes in prices. The following information will help you decide which if any of the kits you would like to order, if you have already placed a order and would like to change it there is no problem. With this in mind I have decided to extend the pre-production price until October 15. With my current work load I do not see the assembled cupolas available for delivery until mid November, kits maybe available sooner.

This is a large post with lots of pictures, but it is the only way I can explain everything so you can make a good decision on how much detail you would like to put into your cupolas.

Gill has kindly confirmed that the cupola for the Tiger 2 is the same casting as the one used on the late Tiger 1. So everything here applies to both Tiger cupolas.

Can anyone help me with pictures of Vince's upgraded cupola so I can work out how to fit my kit.

Aluminum/alloy machined cupolas.
I have asked the company that has made the 88 mm HE Projectiles for me to give me an estimated price on having both the Tiger and Panther cupolas main body and hatch cover to be machined in aluminum/alloy. These will have all the detail of my masters for resin casting. However the price is kind of high in my mind. For me to have these made will add about another $200.00 to the price of each cupola. If you feel you might be interested in this please let me know. I would need at least 20 orders for each cupola to go ahead with this. It would also add time to the production of the completed cupolas. All other fittings would be the same as listed. If these are a go I will still make the resin castings for those that do not wish to purchase the metal ones.

Pre-production prices available until October 15 paid in full.

Periscope covers are not fixed so they maybe slightly out of place.

Here is a brief explaination of what is required to fit the kits.

Note the periscope cover on the left side is a Panther cover, only just noticed I used the wrong one.

Complete upgrade kit for Armortek basic cupola.
This will require additional modifications to the above. The hatch arm hole will need to be drilled wider to fit the arm rotating post and the arm surround needs to be opened a little. The interior will need holes drilled and tapped to bolt the head rest ring in place and the area for mounting the hatch locking mechanism will need to be modified. I will completely convert the Armortek cupola shown to take detailed pictures for the assemble instructions that will come with the kit.

Mike,

Great work again. Please let my order ride as is, Cast is good enough detail for me. I am however still courious about the prisms for the cupola though, anything further on those??

I will add to my order shortly a few more items.

Jim
