Greeting fellow Armortek owners .. and John Clarke
Ian here, from Guernsey / Channel Islands.
I'm sorry .. but it's a tiger-1 again
The tank then, It's an old one .. 2013'ish, and not built by me sorry to say, it's had two previous owners at least.
My thought is that the last owner didn't have everything when he bought it, and so he made parts as best he could, most out of rigid foam sheet.
A huge change in certain circumstances more recently .. and due to several earlier lock downs, I only collected it recently, I bought it almost two years ago.
It is possible that some of the missing parts will need to be collected on another trip .. travel depending
This is going to be a long rebuild, not because I'm not up to it but the House is taking priority .. i'm told
I will post a few photo's in time, a question though, do we use external photo hosting or direct to the site ?.

I've waited a long time to own an Armortek tiger
As a 1/8 owner I've become very good friends with Armortek builder and Forum lurker John Clarke , also Alfredo Campanini was another good contact back in those 1/8 days
I can imagine lots of messages asking .. "has anyone got a spare .. to sell", there are missing parts, and i'm not even looking at the electronics yet

Ian is one of the nicest people I know.
Actually, I only know nice people.
Coming from a time when we thought we were building the "Dogs go-nads" in 1/8 scale tank modelling at the end of the last century 1999.
Ian took this picture of me when we were hanging around Tiger 131 a couple of years later, before 131 rumbled out under its own steam.
It was a time when we were desperately trying to finish what we started.
Little did we know at the time it would flourish into this fine establishment.
These good people here will look after you Ian I'm sure.

Kevin on the Island you say, great to hear from you, where do you take them to play ?, plenty of bunkers to drive around .. how are you with electronics / remote control there is another chap with a tiger on the island, it was a brand new kit direct from Armortek, and there were at least two on Jersey .. but now there's only one now
And lastly and leastly what can I say about John, the ups and downs we went through all those years ago eh John, trying to up-make bits for out tigers, and then Alfredo did it better than both of us
You have a great understanding of the subject John, sometimes on the phone I truly don't know what the heck you're on about, I now realise that I should have been paying more attention
Ah yes, happy times at Bovington, that leather jacket with special image on the rear !, I've still go the two special caps you gave me, Tiger-1 and Space 1999 Eagle, a really genuine and nice chap .. thank you John, best wishes as always mate.

As Phil says, you can't go wrong with a tiger! It is the most produced model in the Armortek range, which means that spares are likely to be available.

I suggest uploading photos to the forum. That way, they will be here as long as your meticulously written posts. The hosting services have a habit of expiring the pictures, making your posts useless.

The great Alfredo Campanini, dare I say it, The God father of 1/8 scale metal scratch detailing. His quality work can be seen in the annuals of the Armortek 88 and on the Sdkfz7 I believe.

How we would laugh and cry and cry again when the next 1/8 model package installment arrived.

As for the Jacket, I penned the motif on a late 80's zip sleeved/less jacket. Thought it would be cool at the Museum.

Hello there and like many others have said, welcome to the Forum and world of Armortek.

I'm currently constructing a new build Jagdpanther which, since kits haven't been available for yonks, is 95% Armortek. It comprises new old stock spares courtesy of the lovely Monique, parts gleaned via the forum, e-Bay and bits from Armorpax and a few from Field of Armor. I'm just "over the way" from you in Normandy and, on a clear day, can see the Channel Isles from our local beach in Manche.

Bon continuation avec votre Tigre (the French spell it in their own inimitable fashion!). Have you visited the Tiger at Vimoutiers perchance?

I worked for 3 years at The Normandy Tank Museum at Carentan where we had a 1/2 scale Tigger powered by a Renault 5 engine in the rear with exposed internal chain drive to the sprockets. Not a good place to be wearing flappy trousers but it did go like the proverbial off a shovel!! Great fun to drive and looking very realistic with its plywood superstructure Zimmeritted with car body filler.

So have a good build...

I'd prefer Fable John, though it's feeble John sometimes.

All posts should be taken in the context of that particular time and should be valued on that basis. (Ask any 1900's slave trader )
If you've got sense, you'll spend a great deal of time on the forum. Cheaper than a book I may add, so much information, so many good like minded people with so much skill.
You can almost touch it. (Just as well "almost", I'd probably be spending sometime at her majesties pleasure otherwise)

Some Topics/Builds are so blindingly brilliant. I find myself thinking "I've got nothing" and I'm just happy to read on.

Picking up the forum on the phone waiting at the dentist, doctors, and any other time to while and get away, just wonderful, so chilling and sometimes pleasurably distracting.

My daughter's old pink laptop with a dodgy battery a dubious a windows7 OS at home seems to suffice, allowing pictures to be easily uploaded and like a lot of old things, it keeps chugging along.

I can't transfer photos from my iphone to my computer so here is the tiger for sale, as it was seen on the forum.
I'd love to find out who owned it first, Armortek don't have the info on which specific tiger / version it was .. the early kits didn't have the engraved i/d inside.
Also because the seller didn't' buy it with all the parts .. (as i've mentioned previously) some have been replaced with non AT bit's.
Any information on it, or if you were the first owner .. I'd love to hear from you
