Hi Mark,

Depends on what era you are building your Panther from.
The rule was:
Color on the inside from the outside visible hatch surface and parts = outside base color.

Panthers Ausf G before October 1944 - Dunkelgelbe
Autumn 1944 until Early 1945 - Green
Early 1945 - wars end - Red oxide

Still much debate how things were at the wars end as then almost everything was possible

This and much more can be read in the excellent book "Wehrmacht Heer Camouflage Colors 1939-1945". A must have for every serious 1:6th modeller already having spent tons of money on their kits...

Cheers
Kent

Hi Mark, great question. I am trying for a Normandy time frame (April 44 production) I was torn as I kinda liked the red oxide look but I just painted loaders hatch and front hatches exterior color the other day. Still have to paint the spring assist things. I can't wait to start camo-ing and weathering this thing as I have finally settled on a camo pattern!

Thanks Kent for the info.
