Hi all,
A short while ago I picked up 3D printing as a hobby, especially accessories for my tanks. Since Mike Stannards Tiger 1 ammo is hard to get and quite expensive, Dragon looks so plasticky, Armorpax makes great shells but they require some work and painting and all of these lack the correct decals to really make them look good, so I started experimenting printing ammo! Lots of hassle, a lot of time went into designing the custom decals, and yes I am planning of making these in greater numbers and higher quality now that I am getting the hang of it. If there is a market for these.
What I put up for sale here are mostly the results of my experiments! Not even NEAR perfect, bent, broken, badly painted... I threw away the worst examples, but these can still serve a purpose. The pictures will give you an idea. Any bad painting I call weathering haha!
I'll try to give you a a general idea of the state by grading it A) or B) quality, and the prices reflect that. The prices also reflect the amount of material used and the complexity of the paint/decals. So far I've spend MANY hours...
I tend to do things in batches, haha! So I have lots...
It's lightweight so I think shipping is not gonna be expensive!
PayPal payment or Bank Transfer
German 75mm KwK 40 HE, AP, HL (for StuG and PzIV)
The third and last picture shows bent bottoms, happened on most of them.
B) Quality, 12 Euro a piece
German 75mm KwK 42 HE, AP (for Panther)
I have only one of the steel case, as shown.
A) Quality, 14 Euro a piece
German 88mm KwK 36 HE, AP (for Tiger 1 and FLAK)
HE in bright yellow was used mostly for FLAK, and the most icon round of this type, but but not uncommon for Tiger tanks too, the green ones are for mainly for tanks. AP was used in both but of course typical Tiger vs tanks!
HE are B) Quality, 12 Euro a piece
AP are A) Quality, 14 Euro a piece
German 88mm KwK 43 HE, AP (for King Tiger and PAK43)
BEASTS! I am a 1,84cm / 115kg guy with big hands!
A lot went wrong printing these. I ended up reconstructing the part where the shell is mounted in the case. Not a bad job, but these are far from perfect. Some have chipping on the shell casings edge.
Paint jar shown for scale!
B) Quality, 13 Euro a piece
German 128mm KwK 44 HE, AP (for Jagdtiger)
Speaking of beasts...
KwK43 for scale!
I pictured the wrong side of the cartridge case: they do have the correct markings on them.
A) Quality, 14 Euro a piece, shell or powder cartridge
British 77mm (for Comet)
These are a real pain in the ass to paint! Pffff!
Left to right: APCBC-T Mk1, HE/HC/T, Smoke, HE/T Mk2, APDS Mk1B
These are available in two qualities, shown left quality A), right (darker shells) quality B)
B) Quality, 12 Euro a piece
A) Quality, 14 Euro a piece
A) Quality empty shells 8 Euro a piece
Planning to print next: Pak40!

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
I'm still working on getting PERFECT shells without any defects.
And I found an even better way to color the shells!
But for now a quick question:
Would it be interesting if I sold shells unpainted?
With or without the decals?

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
They do indeed look excellent.
As our tank / vehicle models are intended to be used, I would suggest offering "presentation" packs with one of each type that that vehicle used, ( intended as a display piece ) and packs of the spent casings to be spread across the rear decks.
Complete shells, chosen individuadly are perhaps more apealling for artillery pieces or AT guns, 25 Pounder, PAK 40, PAk 43 etc

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
Nice to know I was thinking in the right direction, I started experimenting with racks last weekend!
Maybe I should have a custom CAD design made for it!

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
Would be very interested in purchasing presentation racks for PAK 40, King Tiger & Chieftain.
Bags of spent shell casings for the Chieftain would be very quick & easy to produce.

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
Hi Marco,
I would be interested in a set of the 3 Panzer IV shells and a Tiger 1 shell. They can be B quality and unpainted. I wouldn't mind painting them and applying the decals.
Let me know, send me a message please,
Matt

Hi Marco,
will you also make the ammunition of the "7.5 cm KwK 37 L / 24"?
regards

Re: 1/6TH Scale tank shells
+1 for the Armorpax 25 PDR shells. They are fantastic!
Also, if anyone is interested, all-brass 28 Gauge shotshell hulls (slightly-trimmed) are a perfect size replica of the 25 PDR casing. And they look great!
But Dave's Armorpax shells are fantastic!
Good to see some cool 3D print work continuing, though! Lots of shells aren't made yet. So good on the OP!
