A problem with 1/6 scale.....

I've become quite taken by 1/6 scale however I have become aware of a problem.

I have some 50 vehicles in 1/10 scale, about the same in 1/16.

I have been able so far to conceal new additions to my little collection/museum due the numbers. "I've always
had 9 Panthers in 1/10 scale- you missed that one over there"

1/6 scale requires more finesse. I can't hide them as easily and the numbers aren't sufficient ( yet) to pull my old
standby routines. It's nearly an event to move one so I can't just pick one up and sort of shuffle them around.

I'm thinking of a variation on the theme... "Oh THAT one? It was always that big you just saw it from a distance last time"
or "My sweater was on top of it last week so you didn't get a good look."

It’s a cross we all bear. Can I offer a coupe of strategies?

- of course I bought it as an investment. - it’ll be worth more every year.

- I’m just looking after it for a friend.

- it could be worse, I might have taken up golf.

- my therapist suggested I needed something to occupy myself in the evenings.

(Attack is the best form of defence......) - Have you seen the Armortek Hetzer.....

Look on the bright side, at least you know where your investment is.
It's not in a collectors packaging your not allowed to open.
It's not on the wall in the little boys room at the boozer.
It's not in the local bookies or casino's pocket.
It's not in an artificial high which results in dependant low.
And if you need a knee tremblier, just try and lift one of 1/6 heavy weights on your own. It'll put your back out in much the same fashion.
Truly, a fantastic hobby and your so lucky to have the space

Attack is indeed the best means of defence. In my experience the ladies in our lives have their own money pits - fashion, gardening, and cookery books. Don’t do the relative maths - just choose the most appropriate one, smile gently and say you don’t mind about that. Take the moral high ground .......

..... and then duck !

Good Morning everyone.

When I recently had the opportunity to "invest" into this hobby, my initial thoughts were to buy a real tank (albeit a small one). when I look at the running costs, these would be impossible: The divorce would see to that!

We are still happily together, I have the garage and four smaller tanks, a railway in the shed and the lass has the run of the garden(except the tank track area) & the green house, win win.

I was warned: Once you go 1/6th, you forget about the rest! So now I'm stuck with 30+ 1/16th scale tanks that I never run hahaha!

I've been in the hobby of RC armor since the mid 1970s. I have learned a few things myself. One is not to worry about what anyone thinks of it.

I have to say I still very much enjoy my 1/10 scale armor, especially the gas (glow) powered models; they are really what I cut my teeth on so to speak.
In fact I'm just getting a rather rare very early variation of a Maier Panther that had been fitted out with a elector-mechanical conversion by Klingenberger; the only complete one I've ever seen in all the years working with these models....

I was going to blather on about why I like this aspect of modeling so much but suffice it to say I had a very early fascination with track laying vehicles
that morphed into one of military machines. The hobby has sustained me through good and bad times most recently the SciFi- like conditions of The Virus.

While I'm not the sort of chap who would say "love me, love my tanks" I appreciate those who take the time to understand why I like it. Fortunately the
people closest to me do. So within some reason I have a free hand. I think I've got a good start in 1/6 scale with the Armortek kits I've accumulated so far...
