I'm having trouble fitting the bushing taper lock on the main drive sprocket / drive shaft. The key fits into both the slot on the shaft and in the bushing, but when I try to fit the sprocket / bushing onto the shaft with the key already inserted into the shaft it wont go on. I've also tried to fit the sprocket / bushing onto the shaft first and then insert the key with no luck. Do I need the file / sand the key down slightly?
Also both ends of the key have curved ends on two sides....does it matter which way they go in the slots?

You might need to sand the edges of the key ways, to remove any lip left by the machining process.

I've never known if it matters which way round the key goes regarding the curves. It's not mentioned in the instructions so I presume it doesn't matter.

Thanks Adrian. I've just found a video on youtube of 'oddball' John Grimes fitting one of these. Looks like I need to give it a few wallops I think I was being a bit too cautious and expecting it to just slide into place.

Hello Andy, I would go with Adrian, take a file to the edges, I think the key should be a smooth fit, and not forced in....I may be wrong but....Mick

Thanks for reply Mick. I have managed to get a nice push on fit now. I had to sand the edges of the keys a fair bit, but the whole assembly fits great. I have fitted the keys with the curved edges top and bottom, and sanded the top and bottom edges only. This was because it was likely this was the dimension causing the problem. I also didn't want the key a sloppy fit in the keyway.
Thanks for all advice....Probably wouldn't have ended well if I had used the hammer
