Does anybody have details of the Caunter paint scheme. The authorative book seems to be unavailable at the moment. I am thinking of painting my UC in the Caunter desert scheme. All information will be appreciated.

I always liked this camo scheme on the UV. Referred to as the Malta Caunter scheme (I think).

My only concern with the Caunter scheme is that I can't a photo with a mk2 painted at the time. Models and restorations only

Planning for mine to be painted in this scheme but a little concerned how many times I'll be told how wrong I am

Or is that because I've experienced too many rivet counters in model rail circles?

My usual approach is that my model is built and painted how i want it

Well, there's the option to back date it to a Mk I, but I don't know how much trouble that would be. I'm planning on a WD UC but haven't decided what colour scheme to use.

Apart from a couple of model shows, the displays our group do are at country fayres or steam/miltary rallies, and the family tank experts tend to be 14 yo kids who play WoT. Most people are too impressed with the models to start picking holes in them.

We have had 'discussions' with adults over whether a model is a Panther or a King Tiger, which gives you an idea of the level of expertise out there

Easiest answer to anyone who tells you you are wrong is to ask if they ever served on that vehicle, and if they ever served in the army ( of whatever country ) at all.
In my experience of 22 years in the British Army 1985-2007, no two armoured vehicles of the same type were exactly identical when it came to the paint scheme. They were all slightly different even if only one colour. They were painted by hand or spray-painted by people and not robots.
Your model /vehicle so do it as it appeals to you.

I am sure there are many things wrong on my version of the UC but after many years of comments on my bikes I don't care. "You can't put a Yamaha engine in a Bantam frame, ettc...." These are models to build and paint as we wish, however I am sure that plain nut should be a castellated nut...

It maybe should be a castellated nut. Blame it on the REME fitter section that were supporting you. They may not have had the correct spare part available but they put the vehicle back into action
