German Leopards

Saw a comment on another thread that the Leos could not have stood up to the advancing russians like the Chieftain could.
During one exercise, I got a view inside one of the german recovery vehicles, only one extra jump seat although the crew of a Leo was 4. When I asked them about it, the answer was we save the tank and commander. The rest of the crew would would be left at the road-side to be picked up by their equivalent of a landrover, or worst case ditched uniforms and gone E & E.
The german vehicle commander also told me me that their tactics were not to go head to head with the russians but to do hit & run alternating flanking attacks once the russians hit a a brit or american blocking position.
