I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mark & Gill for putting on yet another great open day once again. The weather was great and so was the company and it was good to put some faces to names.

Just to add my thanks to Mark and Gill for a very pleasant day which I really enjoyed. Meeting people and putting faces to names is great. Even the weather was with us for once. Sitting outside the Aero club watching the parachutists and the sun set on a still evening was a fitting end to the day.

As for a WWI tank I would also think it would make an interesting change of model, we need toput it to the vote and get at lease 30 definate takers as Mark has advised us in his excellent talk on Armortek.

me and Mark had a good look at the ww1 armour at the tank museum today. and he said it was possible to make a mk 4 version and if truth be told i think he might be keen to make this tank if there was enough interest shown . I would order one right now if this was a go . it would be a fantastic model to show off, and i feel we sometimes forget the first tanks to be used in combat .cheers stu

Thank you all for your kind comments, we did indeed have an excellent day. The weather held fine for us yet again and with around 100 visitors on the day a great time was had by all.

The models on display were a great testament to the effort and craftsmanship that goes into your Armortek kits.

The winners of the model competition were as follows:


Best Allied Vehicle won by Mark Mitchell with his Sherman

Best Tiger 1 won by Terry Lugg with his original Mid Production Tiger 1

Best ‘Other’ German tank won by Antony Rowley with his Panther

Best ‘Other’ German Vehicle won by John Cooper with his Sdkfz 7

Best in Show was won by David Gray for his magnificent Late Tiger 1

All the model winners were treated to a flight in the 1952 Beech 18 which flew them down along the East Devon coast and very low!! past the factory. The beaming smiles of five faces on their return told us that they had all very much enjoyed the experience.

The Quiz, which proved to be quite challenging was won by John Cooper, and Russell of Barbarossa Books.

Per Sonnervik who joined us from Sweden won the prize for the customer who had travelled the furthest to come to the Open Day.

The weekend was finished for some with a very enjoyable trip to the Tank Museum and the talk on the King Tiger.

Thank you to everyone who came along as it is all of you that made the weekend the success it was. Please send in your photos of the day to be added to the Open Day gallery.

……and finally the jar with the rather smelly black ‘stuff’ in it, brought along by Denny Patterson was apparently the cartridge residue – of 100 rounds through the blank firer!!
