Hi All,

Although functional I just didn't like the look of the split pins as track links. My new pins arrived today and I am much happier with the result. I still have a lot of pins to straighten, remove and replace but it will be worth it.

Dave I suppose these are to special order? Could you give more details please. Also are you finding that the sprocket teeth are sitting into the track fully and everyone is sitting in their track hole?

Hi All,

I have had these commissioned but not cheap. Steel rods and Stainless nuts, Stainless track pins would have been 3 times the price and just not cost effective. I have to buy in minimum batches of 500 but will consider supplying if enough people want them. I just figured I'd have plenty of spares

been too busy to run the model but will have a look when I get chance. I found, as others, tracks are too loose at the specified quantity so need to adjust when I get chance.

I'll be using thread lock and better than trying to fit miniature split pins through a tiny steel pin

It looks like a nice solution to the problem of the sprockets not meshing well with the tracks when they are under tension due to the loose fit of the split pins (as someone above alluded to). I'm pondering making new sprockets with wider pitch which will be fiddly but doable with my small lathe and mill. Probably easier than turning 300 odd pins... However, it has to be said that those pins do look nice.

Hi All,

Gauges for the Universal Carrier. Still have the switch plate to make for the top recess and I think the starter button for the bottom one. Just put a Temp Gauge in there as an option. These are just printed onto a self adhesive label but will be fine with a drop of gloss cote or similar over them for the glass.

Hi All,

If you are looking for a quick (although a bit under scale) and relatively cheap option for the Universal Carriers Tow rope the various 1/10 Rock crawler hooks and wires on Ebay are not bad. I've got a cable on order and also ordered the miniature Brass Shackles from prime Miniatures. Should give me enough to make a passable tow cable.

Hi All,

I have had a Silicone low temp mould sitting around for a while so decided to try it out. I used a couple of bits I forgot to add to the Carrier moulds and a tow hook along with some other random bits to give it a go. Now have something more to scale to make the tow chains. I have some chunkier gold plated jewellery chain and larger shackles en-route too.

Hi All,

Not much progress on my own carrier as time is a bit limited at present. One small update is the 4 links to the inch Chain by Caldercraft arrived from the Ship Wright Shop and seems about right for the UC tow Rope. Coupled with the 2.5mm dia wire rope and thimbles and 12.2.x7.6 Shackles from Prime Miniatures it works pretty well I think.
