Great Lockdown Read

Some good lockdown reading.
Just published by Helion, John Russell's exhaustive but lively account of the last months of the war in NW Europe. It deals with the "big picture" but not at the expense of some absolutely compelling glimpses of life, and death, at the sharp end. For example, John covers the story of Tiger F01 and the Comets of 3 RTR. The maps and photos are quite outstanding and most haven't been seen before. There's a general but incorrect view that by 1945, the war in Europe was all over and the Allies raced to victory. This is far from the truth and the last three months of the war saw some of the fiercest and bitterly contested fighting of the war. Looks like a great read for lockdown.
