Sdkfz.7 late restoration 1944

Post by Heiko Sattler »

Hello men

After the construction of my rhino is almost complete. I want to turn to my last major project, after all I want to paint all of my tanks in this life.
This is a Sdkfz 7 from Armortek, the Sdkfz7 is supposed to be my tractor for my 88 FLAK.
There is a little anecdote about this new model
It stood forgotten for decades in a workshop of a model building colleague, where it should come to an end, it was a year-long struggle until I should get it.
because we just never agreed on price.
The condition got worse and worse over the years my patience has now paid off.
Now the Sdkfz 7 has got a new home. I will probably dismantle it completely and examine it thoroughly and rebuild it.
Personally, I like the late assembly of the Sdkfz 7 from 1944 with a wooden platform, which is why I will also build a late version.

hi Guys
I continued on my sd kfz 7.
a good friend and very talented 3D draftsman, has designed the Borgward logo for my radiator front.
I printed this last one on my 3d printer.
The letter marks are so small that my camera can barely see them. but in real life are razor sharp

Awesome Heiko!
And it can turn on a dime, too! :D
I always thought that the halftracks had a mile wide turning radius. Have you modified it?
A little too much is about right...

Hello men

after i finished my 38t project pictures will follow.
is it now going on with my sdkfz 7, technically this is already completed. it drives like a dream
now it's on to the upper structures and there's a lot to do there.
i put my sdkfz 7 on a diet, that means it has to get lighter.
Armortek built it much too heavy for my understanding, here is an example, the seat in the driver's cab alone weighs 3 kg and is milled from the solid
the upper original structure weighs over 35 kg, this should be limited to 6 kg, the chassis will thank me.

I thought I was the only one who thought the upper weighs too much. I was very tempted to mill out as much metal as I could from the seats alone
but I had something else set up in my machine so I passed that by.. Now looking back I rather wish I had lightened them up. Those seats are
impressive blocks o' aluminium...

Looking superb Heiko!
