Can anyone please advise me on finding the Panther tank complete barrel dimensions, that’s from the Breech to Muzzle Brake? I’m trying to turn a complete accurate one from Aluminum.
Thank you,
Jack

Could anyone please advise me of the Panthers barrel dimensions? My efforts are to have an accurate barrel turned from Aluminum from Breech to Muzzle Brake, including its threading at the MB.
Thank you,
Jack

So, nobody knows the actual dimensions of the Panther barrel? Too bad, would really like to improve upon the Armortek inaccurate barrel.

Out of interest, what do you feel is wrong with the barrel, as I don't believe this has been mentioned before ?
The standard gun was the 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70, which had a gun tube length of 5535mm with the muzzle brake or 5225mm with out it. I presume this is from the breech to the muzzle, so will include the section inside the mantlet. You should be able to estimate where the breech would be and measure from there.
There's also the KwK 42 L/100, which would have been 7500mm long, but apparently that was never developed. Seems to have made it into WoT though.
if you can't find the exact dimensions, then simply remake it so that it appears right to you.
Adrian.

you could always nip over to Deutsches panzer Museum Munster they have a gun and mantle on display this you can measure to your harts content as you will have full access to every part of the gun, just take the appropriate measuring gear and paper, other than that I know of no published diagrams with dimensions, hence lack of responses.

Mark,
Thank you. I’ll just fly across the pond with my measuring tape, Calipers, and Covid-19 mask!

The original barrel has several different tapers throughout its length, something that you see on many 1/35th, and 1/16th scale kits now. I will use Panzer Tracts No.5-3 and perhaps scale from that...or the fairly accurate Trumpeter Kit offering.

Granted flying across the pond is a little extreme but would allow you to take all the measurement's you needed and they would be accurate.
Panzertracts 5/1-4 covers Panther D through to F these books only have external drawings of the gun in 1/35 scale increasing the scale to 1/6 wont be that accurate. now the Trumpeter 1/16 Panther as you say is accurate and would give more accurate measurement's especially of the breach and internal component's something not supplied in Panzertracts.

Mark,
It would be nice to gain access to the hull over the Drivers hatches, and by so doing would permit the two first changes of Diameter through taper of its barrel. Only problem with the display of this cannon at the Munster Museum, is that it is in a state of recoil...probably to not only to reduce floor space required...but to better balance this beast. With the Gun being out of Battery, the first two step downs are hidden. I’ll come up with something...but thanks for chiming in!
