Many, many thanks for your kind calls, email and forum posts - as well as your offers to help. It is humbling to see such a supportive community.

In short - for those who don't like reading .. all is well and we will be up and running again on Tuesday.

The longer version:
Thursday afternoon we had a downpour. Did not last that long, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, but the volume of water in such a short space of time was incredible, as was the noise.

The result ... well I think the video says it all:

Needless to say, the electricity mains were isolated pretty damn fast - did not wait to shut the machines down in an orderly fashion, nor waste time stopping the jobs that were running. CNC machines don't normally take kindly to unexpected power shutdowns, especially whilst working on a job, but I did not really want to experience the alternative. The last time we had a power cut we had to call in a Fanuc engineer to fix the electrical board on a 5AX machine. Added to that was the fact that water was running down a couple of the machines !
So Thursday did not look all that great.

Friday was spent on clean up and drying out. Many thanks to Chris and Malcolm who worked non stop to get the place in order again.
Electrics were dried out as well and by the end of the day we had tested all the machines - good news on that front .. apart from a couple of broken tools, they seem to be ok.

So, all told, it could have been far worse. We lost/ damaged some things I would have preferred not to have lost/ damaged, but on Tuesday we will be back up to speed on the Stug III.

Poured rain here today, but nothing like that. Hurricane remnants... Meh...

But farm work about done with frost coming in soon. And I broke out the RR chassis and started on the rear axle. I have plans. Big plans!

Glad all ok, we had that downpour over here in Poole as well, came from nowhere and the wind got up, lasted about 15 mins, 2 hours later not a cloud in the sky, good old British weather.
