This is my 3rd Elefant build, the first 2 being commission builds.
This one will have as much detail added as possible without going daft.
The lower hull has been detailed , not 100% but good enough.
- A good start, plenty more to do
Regards
Steve

You lost me at the phrase "... without going daft."
Isn't that why we're all here?
Looking forward to seeing this one unfold. Love to see the kinds of amazing things folks get up to here!
Cheers,
RPR

We're all daft otherwise we wouldn't be here.
Looking forward to a superb build

Following with interest - your builds are always great references. I will enjoy what details you add and share!

Some more Elefant progress.
The basic hull goes together very nicely, just a bit of tweaking required on the rear fillet pieces.
- A counter sunk screw was added to the back end of each fillet piece to add a bit of extra rigidity.
- Overall view of the assembled lower hull, the fit of all the parts was very good with virtually no adjustments required.
- The mudguards will have diamond tread plate added when complete. The forward section has been put in place as a trial fit
- Suspension units ready to fit
- Wheels painted and ready to fit
More to follow.
Regards
Steve

Some more progress, suspension fitted along with wheels and tracks.
- The tracks came out nice after a coat of primer and a couple of coats of paint.
Time to start the upper hull.

Very nice indeed
Can I ask what color you have used for the tracks. Looks really good

Hi Steen.
The tracks were etch primed using Upol acid etch grey the lightly coated in Halfords red oxide followed by a dusting of Halfords Matt black. A further dusting of dark metallic gray and when dry a wash with Vallejo dark brown.
I am very pleased myself with the way they turned out.

Steve

Plenty of weld seams on this tank !
- Look at the thickness of the armour with the additional plate added
- No additional armour on the lower plate
The cone headed bolts securing the additional armour will be added after the zimmerit has been applied.

Steve

Sunday’s update,
- More detail added and the Zimmerit is now done on the front end.
I need to find a way to simulate the remains of the welds on the horizontal plate, were the jack stowage used to be.

Steve

Looking very good Steve. Ref the old Jack mount welds, you need to put it all together add the welds and then remove it leaving behind the scars, that's the only way I know.

Hi Phil
Good idea, I will make up a couple of dummy jack bases to act as templates.
