Hi all, just a few pics of my progress with the model, got it running this morning and everything is working as it should.HAPPY!just keep the track tight and there is little to no rubbing on the drive case.

Thanks Steve, the tank will be painted in desert sand of the Kuwait army as inspired by the Takom model kit.hopefully will look something like this

A privately owned chieftain having fun!

The basic build of my Chieftain MK5P is now complete (phew!). it's painted in desert sand base colour, now the fun part of the build begins,that is adding details and get it properly painted and weathered(which I haven't a clue ) so it'll be commissioned out to be painted.but that's in the future,in the meantime I'm going to relax and enjoy running the tank

You're too kind John! Compare to yours and others build mine is pretty mundane, but I put this beast together from 5 boxes of bits and I feel really good about it.

You should feel good about it, and an excellent job you've done.

When you consider you have one of around six known completed Armortek Chieftains, that's about the same amount as the first batch of prototypes built in the late 1950's.

This makes you one of the experts.

Hundreds of Armourtek Tiger tanks of one form or another have been built, it's now down to a fine art. Faults and problems well known.

Not so with Chieftain, give it a thrash, give us a service report. Performance, Track tension, Knocking noises and what falls off.

Been doing a bit of detailing on the back of the Chieftain, I'm not going for 100% accuracy as it's beyond my abilities at the moment but just try to make it look more busy.

Looks like you're making good progress

It does look weird with the back off but gives a good idea of how little space there is in the back of such an apparently large model.

Great detailing Manny, love the ability to remove the rear end, something I cannot do any more.
Being able to dismantle I think certainly make things easier. Welding and filling joints on my Chieftain hampers my ability to work on it in the little space I have.
One of the reasons I was so attracted to the UC as my next model very few welds and sealed joints.
The open rear end certainly shows space on the panniers which I was hoping mount the control gear, it's going to be tight.

Been adding some markings on my chieftain using the takom model as a guide.For the white stripes I used masking tape which was simple enough but the black emblem I cut the shape out of card and used as a template.it came out pretty close Does anybody knows what the emblem means in Arabic?
