Hi everyone. Just been out to the garage, and fiddling about with my Tiger and M47. Both have had mice in them, chewed throu' various wires. In fact a bit of a new nest in theTiger. SO BEWARE ! Such a small animal can stop a Tiger, keep your hatches closed.

Sorry to hear about your Tiger. There was an interesting story in the Automotive press here recently about new cars that (to help meet green standards) are using soy-based plastic in wiring harnesses. And the rodents are chewing the cars right into being totalled. Attacking the soy plastics. The same happened in Texas with Fire Ants and the Superconducting Supercollider back in the '90s.

Hi Duncan,
My Tiger has had the same " small scale attack", I am in the process of checking every wire and after soldering/repairing using heat shrinking tubeular covers. slow painful work.

They love the packing Armortek use for shipping kits, so be careful where you store your boxes before opening.

On a slightly more unpleasant topic, mice don't have a urethral sphincter, so constantly dribble urine everywhere they walk

I have had a Comet that had a Mouse attack. It was a mess of wire filaments, shredded plastic insulation and shredded paper that had been brought into the Hull. If I had switched the power on it would have caught fire as it was a very flammable mixture. It was a very lucky escape, so I check the interior regularly.

I worked with a guy who had Toyota Tundra 4x4 pickup (expensive rig). The rats or mice ate the wiring harness which Toyota brilliantly switched to Soy based from plastic based. Cost him about $8,000 to repair. That's a lot of quid!

I have traps in my garage and catch 'em frequently. I didn't think about the cornstarch peanuts in my Armortek boxes though! Time to get rid of that stuff!

Sorry to hear your tanks were damaged! Hope you get them fixed.

I have heard that Bounce dryer sheets will keep them away. Try it - would be better than a dead mouse in the tank. And your tank will smell new wash fresh.

They not only destroy things but are master thieves. I spent hours machining a small part for my Centurion and was sure I’d left it on the bench overnight. Next morning was spent searching for it. That’s when you get helpful comments such as “are you sure you left it there, well just look harder and worst of all, you’re imagining it”.

I found it weeks later when I noticed some debris in the hole in my audio subwoofer under the bench. The little b*****ds had mad a very comfortable nest inside and in pride of place was my shiny new bit.

Glad to know I'm not the only one
