Gents,
i am building a 2019 KT and have got a blank firer that i want to build in, i am asking for advice of how to do this as i cannot find clear instruction of this and i am a bit confused (that is spelt "f**cking clueless").
Any help or tips gratefully received
this is my first Armortek tank, so as the actress said to the bishop, i am new to this so please be gentle.

Hi John
My advice would be not to fit the blank firer, it was originally certified to be installed on the earlier KT,s which had a different gun barrel and muzzle break. Fitting the blank firer to the latest KT would quite possibly be illegal and certainly dangerous as no testing has been carried out.
Sorry to disappoint you but safety is vital when dealing with items like the blank firer.

I have 2 blankfires, one in my tiger 1 and one in my king tiger.
I shoot a lot with the blanks and never have any problems with them ( i you used them correct )

I know this guy in the video and he used the wrong blanks, he let me see the blanks he used and they TO LONG
He also dont use vaseline on top of the blanks and that is very importent because the black powder is very explosive.
It can ignite all six blanks in one shot if you dont use the vaseline.

John, I don't want to come across too harshly, but it is expressly not allowed to have blank firing with a movable barrel. It is dangerous and potentially illegal.

Looking at my answer to advise, I think I should simplify, I Still like the thought and the concept.

But


1.It cannot be fitted to a moving barrel which could become a projectile.
2.You have six rounds you could fire before you need to strip the whole gun down to clean and clear debris, not forgetting blank wadding.
3.It's very very dirty and will cover the inside of the model with burnt corrosive black powder debris, the seal is not wonderful after several firings.
4.When the seal leaks smoke pour's out of the tank hatches, not very realistic.
5.The blank firer is big and could limit gun elevation.
6.It's not something you can turn the volume down.
7.It cannot be used in doors.
8.Not something you want to use in public.
9.Your Public liability insurance will be invalid.
10.If something goes wrong it could be fatal.

I made a cover around the blankfire unit to keep the dirt out of the interior of the tank.
The cover is made from a fire blanket, so it cant not burnt out.

thanks for all the replies.
I am fully aware that i can not use any recoil system with a blank firer fitted and it must be fitted with a pepperpot to stop any wadding being ejected, i would not expect i would use it on any real regular basis but would be nice to have the option for effect.

The mountings that i have with the kit do not fit with this version of KT in any aspect so was thinking i had got it wrong, hopefully wondering if someone could tell me how it all goes together , Kian, when you said i could not use it on any movable barrel does that include elevation control ( as stated no recoil system can be used).

I can legally reload cartridges so i can turn up or down the volume of the device by varying the powder charge and by using black powder substitutes can help to control the corrosive effects of black powder as well as fouling,black is really dirty, covering all chambers with grease to stop flash over is normal practice with all muzzle loading revolvers and blank firers.

Advice for use is only to be expected as some places or countries don,t want to take any noise issues or fun for that matter.

I was really asking for advise as to how to fit it into the model, i understand that the model has changed over its versions so i may have to figure it out myself.

Or do I redesign it all to have a steel barrel and straight though barrel/ breech so i can deal with those Pesky Wabbits (JOKE GUYS JOKE).

on your note of smoke from the hatches when the gun is fired, the KT did not have a fume extractor on its barrel, if the wind was blowing in the direction of the barrel and another round was not loaded straight away this was normal as it was with a lot of tanks of its time, in a lot of cases it was normal to fight the tank with at least one hatch open to help clear the smoke even more so from the machine guns, it also helped with over pressure issues, very few tanks had pressured air systems to clear fumes. Even as late as when we still used Scorpion we still did this.

How do i know, i crewed Tanks and Scorpion.

I think legal use of a blank firer may be different from country to country. In Germany e.g. it is not allowed to adapt a blank firer to a barrel, because this would be an illegal alteration of this 'weapon'. But there exists an electric firing machine gun with 6 mm blank cartridges (originally designed for model airplanes, but also usable in 1/6 scale tanks) that has an European permission for use when mounting it without alterations.

I think you'll like the Blank firer, it was entertaining. Though after the build you'll probably prefer the recoil and the extra elevation, it's a big gun and it's nice to see the movement from it.

Recoil wasn't available on the 2009 edition KT I had, so the blank firer was a welcome addition. But it did limit it's demonstration ability around "Joe public", where as now the latest option packs do allow the Full Monty any time.

It must have been a great experienced working with a real AFV, I'll never know the ins and outs, but open hatches while firing the old timers makes sense, though the smoke coming from inside the model appears more than I'd expect on the real thing.
