Evening everyone,

Having succumbed to the lure of owning an Armortek Universal Carrier, I decided to grab some pictures of the Universal Carrier displayed on the War Department Flatbed at the NRM Shildon. This is the carrier that was ex Durham Light Infantry Museum which sadly closed a couple of years ago.

As the forum's resident Geordie, I don't live too far away from Shildon. I tend to find myself there every few weeks. If anyone would like any particular photographs please let me know, with a bit of notice the Museum don't mind me clambering about taking photos.

Cheers ;)

Alex

Went back to see my little mate the other day, you forget how small a U/C is until you're standing next to one. I'll add the pics that I took, apologies if any are repeats of views I've already posted.

Nice posts.

Early/mid 1970's, my brother would find ourselves in the DLI museum during the school hols. We lived in Newcastle and my mother worked in Durham so therefore we had to amuse ourselves. I recall we would clamber about this vehicle, whether we were supposed to or not, I don't recall being challenged, it never seemed busy either.

I haven't been to Shildon for at least 3 years, but as it is only over the hump I really should once restrictions are lifted. Only to reacquaint myself with the carrier, honest!

Cheers Charles

Wow, it really brings home how good the kit is in representing the full sized item. Lovely photos and a definite place to visit in future.
