If you can find it the book "Combat history of Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 653" has many pictures of Jagdtiger from when the Abteilung converted from Elefant to Jagdtiger, it also has hundreds of pictures of Elefant, be warned this book was a limited release in English and is long out of print so will fetch a premium price should you be able to find a copy. Amazon has it for more than £400 per copy.

Really like the colorized photos. I've never seen some of them. The Schw PZ Abt 653 and 654 books are excellent. Thanks for posting pix!

I wonder what that is. An antenna base? No. A flag holder base? Unlikely.
Further look more photos, proved the antenna base is already located behind the periscope cover along the left edge of the roof, and never re-located.

Only found in that vehicle (Fgst. Nr. 305003), not in any other vehicle/photo what-so-ever.

Good eye!

Looks a bit spindly to be an antenna base, but maybe.

Would they have put a flag holder on a Jadgtiger with Porsche suspension made in late 1944? For what purpose?

I don't have a picture of the roof of the Jadgtiger at Bovington, perhaps that would help?

Read a Japanese model magazine today, said it was a MG pole base intended to operated AA MG by the commander, but only found on this vehicle, and disappeared soon after.

That turret ventilator looks very similar to a King Tiger or a late variant Tiger 1 without the protruding tabs at the bottom.
