Jagdtiger prototype

As we start with the prototype, we will post details here. For now the only information we have to share are the dimensions:
Length : 1730mm
Width : 600mm
No. of parts : just over 1,600

The weight will be more than the King Tiger, but should not be substantially higher.

Our favourite quote comes from a great, long lasting customer ......
"I have managed to ignore your previous releases, .....I have too many Armortek kits now, more than I should indeed, more than I will be able to assemble and play in this lifetime, but the JAGDTIGER I just cannot let it pass..."
:D

Are there any photos of the beast before it was ‘restored?’

Oh yes, even moving images, taken just after it's capture by the allies, still on German ground!

After working with the chieftain steel tracks and sprocket rings I think we ought to push for the same for the Jagdtiger, they feel and look fantastic, so please please armortek give us the option even if we have to pay just a little more?
Maybe the later one piece tracks would be easier and sure would look the part!

Hi Phil,

my Jagdtiger and both the Königstiger already use Olaf's steel tracks for years with best success. There ist no intensified wear at the drive train, and there are also no difficulties in use at heavy grounds. For using these track links on my Bigtanks models I hat to build driving wheels and sprocket rings of my own (both made of aluminium), because the track links were originally designed for the Armortek Königstiger. So I mean that these track links may also fit the new Königstiger and the Jagdtiger without alteration.

The JT will be shipping with Aluminium tracks.
Steel tracks will add approx 20kg to an already heavy model and will add strain to the running gear.

More info re Olaf Piekenbrink's state of the art steel track & 18-tooth sprocket ring could be found here:

(1) With good quality, the price back 2011 is already  .
(2) Not sure if it is still available from Olaf.

That's quite right; the steel tracks are much heavier than Armorteks aluminium tracks; they weigh 13,7 kg per side (Königstiger). I don't know the weight of Armorteks tracks. Perhaps an owner of an Armortek king tiger using Olaf's tracks may respond to the running gears strain. My models are non-Armortek; therefore I can't answer this question, but I'm aware that no drive train lasts for eternity.......

Olaf actually has no more steel tracks, because I bought his remainder to fit my models  But the casting moulds still exist....... :)

The Armortek's aluminium track is 6.7kg. While replacing to Olaf's steel track, I've weighed both of them. :D

Well, and did you detect any excessive wearout to the drive train when using Olaf's tracks?
