Production is now in full swing on the King Tiger.

Photographs below show some of the hull sides going through the first operation as well as the front armour plate - also going through its first operation. Those plates are 25mm (1" thick). The cutout that you can see is clearance for the gearheads of the enlarged motors (same speed, but lots more torque).

Just funny, but not everyone is excited to get his tank model in original thickness of its armor plates. In past a fellow of mine wrote a programm for his CNC milling machine to thin out the thick plates of his King Tiger at the inner side. He told me that he so could spare over 10 kilograms!

I can understand the concept of thinning frames on the trucks and even thinning solid lumps like hatches, but to thin the Armour is sacrilege.

Isn't that the reason why were so endeared to Armortek concept of modeling and not some plastic version of the same model?

Where else can you get a serious work out, apply correct lifting practices and techniques while enjoying the hobby we all love.

Anyway, removing 10% in weight of a KT only reduces it's scrap value

Totally agree, that's one of the main selling points I always tell my friends - Scale thickness Armour! If you are going to hollow it out to save weight then you may as well re-design the whole kit for that reason.

I think its bad enough Armortek have had to make cut-outs for the new motors!

Don’t panic! I think the new motor/gearboxes are heavier than the previous ones.... so should make up for the loss of Ali easily!

With only one AT model till today I am not at all the specialist for these models, but my fellow seemed to have some wearout at his models according to rough operating conditions, and he thought that a lower weight could help to minimize wearing out of the drive train. Meanwhile he has other trouble, because he sold all his models and changed to tanks in 1/1 scale.......

Been a while since our King Tiger update, so here are some pictures of the Production Validation Build. Still a way to go, but it is coming together nicely.
After 3 heavy tanks in a row (Chieftain, KT & JD, think it may be time for something lighter )

A Matilda II would be lighter.....

But failing that, CVR(T) fits the bill. Just no more trucks please or we’ll lose the armour in Armortek.

I’m ducking now....

That KT is super cool. Would a cast Sherman be lighter?

Going by experience, John would also have to ask Monique to send a spare set of tracks with the Scorpion kit. He had a 1/6th scale Action Man Scorpion as a kid and wore out the tracks within a couple of weeks
Our father used a stapler to join the breaks in the plastic tracks until they could not be kept going any longer.

And John should know better , it is not CVRT but CVR(T)
