Moving - how to lift, rotate, transport the model - BASIC

I've now added the Knowledge Base Topic on moving the heavier Armortek models. It covers motor cycle lifts, lazy susans, hydraulic lift tables and ramps for loading. It also covers ways of restraining the model in the car or van. It's intended to cover the basics but it would be good to add other options used by the Armortek community.

I often argue that our hobby is actually cheaper than owning other, similarly priced, unnecessary items such as boats, quads, motorcycles etc. There are no running costs, such as fuel, ridiculous insurance fees etc. With an Armortek model there is just the upfront cost and that's it.

However, I bought myself a van to transport my models safely and easily without ruining the family car. So, now I have all those running costs.
That van has proven to be one of the most useful items I have ever bought, though, so well worth it. There is no end to the trips to IKEA, the lumber yard and the recycling facility. It has been a very good replacement for my old, beloved, Buick roadmaster.

This is how I have constructed an interior from aluminum channels and plywood. It is secured in existing fittings. There is a shelf to hold packing and other stuff. If I move a beam out of the way, I can even sleep on the shelf. There is room for three tanks (on the floor), although I only have two at the moment.

Made this type of hydraulik lifter. Cut off the handle.
The mid section I weld tight, and made a tool to move it up with an akku drill.

My tanks rest in the basement on hydraulic car lifters; their tracks free in the air. To use a model, I lift it up until the wooden blocks fit under the tracks and the car lifter gets free when sink it. Then I can tow or drive the model to my lifting carriage, move it to a ramp at the basement window and drive it out of the cellar.
