Supplies for dual fuel tanks

One interesting snippet from someone at the Sonning show on Sunday was that you can get free juice for your dual fuel running tank from the companies who earn their living helping people who have managed to put the wrong type of fuel in their cars on the forecourt.

These companies apparently have to pay to dispose of the resultant diesel/petrol mix, and so are more than happy for Chieftain etc owners to come an empty their storage tanks for a nominal cost, or gratis.

So the next time you do this, don't think about the impending engine rebuild, just remember you're helping to keep an old tank running somewhere

Adrian.

Interesting Adrian. I don’t think the British Army ever got the multi-fuel concept to work as designed. It’d be a brave Chieftain owner who tried now but given the cost of filling one, they might give it a go.

if I'm not mistaken the Chieftain has a 2 stroke engine, these engine usually have oil mixed with the fuel as the main lubricant. We used to pre mix the fuel for our bikes which was usually Castrol R, if the fuel is blended with enough normal fuel it may be a bit smokey but shouldn't cause problems.
