I shall be starting a Late Tiger1 build within days, it should be interesting as it has just a few
very nice upgrades ( note the Maybach engine kit box )....watch this space!
We are also waiting for other parts which include the engine radiators, those beautiful working fan units and the various fire wall vents and fittings.

Nice. Pulled up my deckchair, umbrella and popcorn.
Is this a 2017 Armortek model?

Hi Phil
Looking forward to this build,
I have a late Tiger 1 waiting for a rebuild and have been slowly gathering parts over the last year or so.
Like you I intend to fit a engine bay and fans plus lots of other aftermarket parts. I have one of Ivano,s Maybach HL230,s and a load of Steve Winstone parts plus turret ring armour and engine vent screens from Mike Stannard. Mark Lawson (Rivetcounter) has also supplied very nice c-shackles,tow hooks, mg mount and hatch hinges.
Just got a King Tiger to finish and I may make a start.
Regards
Steve

Thanks Vince, and yes it's the very latest model of the model.
Thanks Steve, they do make a nice model. We also have Ivano's engine and a USB stick of build instructions.

Are you planning on using resin fan housings from East coast armoury?
I was thinking of using 4 x 24v cooling fans as the fan drive gear box cannot be seen below the fan covers (they sit under a sheet metal shroud).

Steve

ECA resin units which come with the fans, I have made these units with pc fans and flat plasticard on previous builds and they looked fine but the ECA are the dogs dangly bits! The noise of the fans ie all four sound good to, they have to be engine revs proportionate though.

I am interested to see how you get them to run proportional to the engine revs.

Hi Adrian
Interesting, I have one of your modules that I put away for the Tiger 1 build. So are you saying I can link 4 x 24v fans in series with smoke fan and they will run proportionally when the engine sounds are played.
Regards
Steve

A very quick and effective way to drive the fans proportionately is to simply connect the fans directly to the smoker rectifier, or fit another dedicated rectifier from the other main drive motor.
As the fans run on such low current they kick in long before the main motor begins to turn, and if the TX is set up correctly it's possible to rev the engine and so energise the fans without the vehicle moving at all, then a little more TX input and the tank is moving with the fans accelerating nicely......or you could install one of Adrians units to do all this for you.

This will be good.
I'm hoping to do some upgrades and weathering later once I've crawled over other people's Tigers looking for ideas.Seeing mine is the first one I've built I have no real idea what I'm doing.
Good luck and I can hardly wait.
Glen.
