My FPV Setup

I have finalized my FPV setup for my Tiger 1 for the upcoming season

Decided to mount a 5" FPV monitor on my Graupner transmitter instead of a 10" oversized monitor.

My camera setup will be 1 installed in the drivers periscope and the second installed in the stomach of the turret commander.

I will install a switch on each camera power cord so that I via the transmitter can choose which camera I want to have projected on the monitor

Here is just a couple of pictures of the setup - more will come when the project is installed (second camera is being shipped )

Steen, that's such a great idea. What hardware are you using?

The videos on my Tank Builders YouTube channel were shot with a RunCam Split Mini 2. The picture was transmitted to a:

We're planning to do something similar for TankFest but maybe projecting onto a larger screen, so that the public can see.

Thanks Steen. I see that Turnigy have finally added the need for a common ground for their Rx controlled switch, if you’re using more than one battery. I’m using one for my Centurion searchlight and we had to work it out for ourselves. The camera looks interesting for FPV but for recording, a higher resolution is probably needed. FPV really adds to the experience. Here's my 1:16 KV2 with the elmod IR battle system. My buddy Dan set up the camera system, so I don't have the details handy. He used a spare channel to trigger a switch to toggle between cameras. The Fatshark goggles I find easier than a monitor, as it truly is closer to "FPV". We're planning on an easier, and more robust system install into my 1:6 models. The small scale is quite a challenge.

Hi all,

please keep in mind that these ranges are free-to-air ranges, not ranges directly at the ground. But the range is only one criterion for a safe driving with FPV.

A comrade of mine tried FPV with his Jagdpanther early in 2014 with 100 mW (in principle not allowed in Germany). The tank was about 400 m away, none of us could see it. Suddenly his monitor picture flipped at near 180 degrees and was frozen. We went along and searched the tank. One of us found it. It was laterally fallen into a ditch. The damage was over 400 €, because the animatronic crew was destroyed

I remember seeing a picture of the JagdPanther lying upside down in the ditch

My prefereable setup is with a monitor, not googles - I like to be able to also have a visual eye look on the tank as well

I know the range is open air, but it still gives a fair view of the gear you need to invest in.

The battlefield we have in Denmark do have trees, and I aim with the 200mw transmitter to gain 50-100 meters monitor view when driving. which should be doable

Not a lot to see through the drivers periscope vision slot.

I am going into my creative abilities and have thought of a perfect place for the forward pointing fpv camera

I decided to go with one camera in the drivers upper body

Hello Steen,

the comrade looks a little bit like Iron Man with the cam in the chest.
I would prefer the sight throug drivers vision ports or gunners sight. You don't see much but its like the real look & feel of gunner and driver.
