First of all: How much space is there between the ground and a Tiger 1? Can somebody please take a measurement?

Now about the topic... How to lift my Tiger? Both for maintanance and to work easier on it? And to store it while not putting weight on the torsion bars?

Really nice working height AND you can move the tank but how to get the tank on to it? And it won't take the weight off the tracks/torsion bars since it's platform is too wide.

It's got wheels AND may be low enough to simply roll it under the tank?

That's why I asked: How much space is there between the ground and a Tiger 1? Can somebody please take a measurement?

What are your thoughts?

Update: that last item is not usable, the lift area is 50cm wide and I need it to fit between the tracks, under the tank, and so it can be max 33cm wide...

The hydraulic lifting tables are good for moving tanks around. I use a pair of cut down car ramps to drive the tank up onto it:


For a Tiger, I would imagine you will need to add a sheet of wood to the top of the table, as they tend to be fairly narrow, so there is a risk of the tank sliding off sideways.

These mini scissor lifts are what I use to lift the tank off its suspension:


Make sure you get one which has a nut on the end of the lifting screw, as ones with a bar handle cannot be used under a tank!

About the height measurement - can't you measure Konan ? All tanks will vary in height, depending the the setting of the torsion bars and whether they have sagged over time. Or did you mean the real Tiger ?

Hi Marco

The ground clearance on a real Tiger 1 should be 470mm at the front and also at the back. I can't say what the ground clearance on a model Tiger 1 is because it will depend on the weight of the model and also at what angle the suspension arms are set.

Regarding your other question, I have seen peole use two sizes of table. The big one to lift the model to working height and a smaller one to take the weight of the model or lift the model from the bigger table.

I am using a hydraulic jack with a large timber plate under each of my models. In parking position the jack is fully down and the track links can run freely.



When I want to use the modell, I pull up the jack until 2 bars can be positioned under the track links. Then I pull down the jack, and the tank can run along the bars to my hydraulic lifting table and its turntable. So it can be moved to the storage room.







To store the tank I make the processes vice versa. The ground clearance of the model is negligible when using such lifts.



To reach the garden I must use ramps to drive the model out of the basement



The ball bearing turntable allows the model to be adjusted to the ramps



Off, off and away......



For loading the model in my car I use these foldable ramps which can be placed besides the tank
