Steering box assembly

Post by Steven Ford »

EP0227 and EP0233 are a bit more than a snug fit in my kit. Is there any preference, when easing dimensions to ensure rotation, as to which component should receive the attention of the file? Or does it make negligible difference.

I am proposing to use an adherent bicycle gear lubricant too. Or does anyone have a superior recommendation?

Hi Steven

Can't remember what I did, but I had a similar problem. I think I did a bit on both. There may a bit of a burr on the hub of EP0227 so take a fine needle file to the holes where the pin goes first. If that doesn't fix it try a fine round needle file in EP0233, just lightly touching the surface, or fine wet and dry on a dowel.

Hello Steven, for my Roller steering I use a fine wet and dry sanding block on the King Pin, EPO224, deburr part EPO217 so that the pin drops in smoothly. I would think any light oil would be fine....Mick
