25 Pounder colour

Post by andyquirot »

I don't know what colour to do my gun. Desert brown looks good but what about British green. What would be best to show it off.
Also i don't have anything to tow them so i am going to scratch build something what else other than a Morris was used.
Any help would be appreciated.

Andy in my opinion anywhere from desert yellow to light brown looks really good in the scale, I'm not so keen on the glossy greens, it just doesn't do the scale justice but its really down to you :D regards Phil.

Andy

Early war (1939-41): Khaki Green No 3
Mid war (1941-44): Standard Camouflage Colour (SCC) 2 Service Brown, possibly with SCC 14 Blue-Black disruptive pattern camouflage
Western Desert (1940-43): British Standard Colour (BSC) No 61, Light Stone or BSC No 64 Portland Stone
Far East (Burma): same as Europe Mid War (SCC2 + SCC14) until 1943 and then SCC13 - Jungle Green
Late war: SCC 15 Olive Drab
Post war: Deep Bronze Green (gloss)

Amongst the best (ie most accurate) model colours available are those from Hataka. One set almost covers all the colours above:

The guru for British colours is Mike Starmer, who's done a number of colour mixes which are very accurate.

Hi all some photos of my EB.. purchase.
Started striping down and etch priming the bits , The only etch primer i can find in Jersey is black.
I am adding mods as i go as seen by the mud guard brackets.
I will use red primer when i finish assembling it all.

Build the flange I had to make the bolts by cutting the heads off and fitting some nuts.
