Hi All,

I have got some use of my left index finger back but not enough yet to do any real master work. Seems like a good time to get all the parts of the new project laid out and start bolting together some more metal stuff.

Best regards

Dave

You are so organised. I am feeling ashamed of the mess I have here.

Dave:

Beautiful work (and I love the Star Wars models in the background!!!)

I have not heard the term "Pheasant" before and some Google turned up the fact that it was a code-name for the 17 Pdr. But I also saw something to the effect that it was a hybrid gun? A 17 Pdr gun on a 25 Pdr. carriage?

Can someone talk about the variants and/or what the specifics of a Pheasant are?

I am loving this build already. I have a 25 pdr. and a Pak 40 awaiting assembly. This might be my excuse to order a 17 PDR.

And I 'SO' want to do an 88. If it ever comes back in production. Live artillery (and big model artillery) is a passion!

Cheers,

RPR

Hi Pierce,

Pheasant was indeed a hybrid stop gap piece. 17 Pdr mounted on the 25Pdr carriage prior to the purpose built carriage of the 17 Pdr most recognise. From what limited info we can find it served in North Africa but doesn't seem to pop up anywhere else. I love the 25 Pdr and this allowed me a Tiger killer with loads of rivets :-)

I'll be in touch soon about the RR AC

Best regards

Dave

Very cool!

Are you doing a conversion/detail kit?

Because it would be really easy for the "Pheasant" to turn into its own Kompact Kit... wouldn't it?

Cheers,

RPR

Interesting photo that last one: shows the extended firing lever in some detail. That's where I stranded ehhhh, 2 years ago....
Good grief, I have to get my life back and start building again!

Hi Marcus,

I have 2 pics that show the firing mechanism close enough for me to figure it. I will be making parts for this and if you drop me a quick email I'll send you the pics.

Best regards

Dave

Hi All,

With a little filing the 17 Pdr slide fits the slide trough of the 25 Pdr. Good progress today on the 25 Pdr carriage. This is actually the first rime I have been able to add our update set to a kit as I build it rather than afterwards :-)

Best regards

Dave

Dave, just out of curiosity, are those real rivets were you had to form the head, or glued in rivets?
