Anyone got any idea why i get loud banging from the area of my front sprockets when my tracks are going forward, yet not in reverse?

It is the enemy firing at you while you are approaching. Once you start retreating, you do not bother them as much

Seriously though, it sounds like the track tension is not correct and the slack part of the track is hitting an obstruction. If the driven sprockets are at the front of the vehicle, the slack part of track will be forward of the sprocket and down to the ground when going forward and up and behind the sprocket when reversing.

Edited - Also if the track is too loose, it could be jumping over the sprocket teeth when moving in one direction

Thanks mark, tension was too tight and the tracks didn't move so I slackened them off a little bit. Sounds like i'll have to play about with the tension.
I must admit though that at the moment the tank is on blocks with no ground pressure on the bottom run of the tracks,
