Latest episode of the Matilda Diaries, chronicalling the Tank Museum restoration of their Mk II Matilda. Good sequences of driving in open country in Australia, belies the impression of the heavyweight as a slow crawler. For an infantry tank, it shows a good turn of speed. Next model after the Chieftain?

Hi Stephen,
I'm glad you posted that article on the Matilda restore. I am watching all 17 episodes with great interest and I am up to episode 9 at present.
Dennis.

Ditto Dennis, I am loving it, proper in depth film work and no bl--dy rock music! Phil.

Very interesting to watch the complete series but they have done somethings completely different to how I think REME would have fixed them in the field.
First example of lock-wiring was completely wrong. Other posts to that episode ( 11 ) confirmed my initial impressions.
And rather than lifting the turret to change the barrel, I feel pretty sure we would have removed mantlet & gun, changed barrel, and then refitted the mantlet with barrel.
