Tow cable annealing

Dear All,

I bought 3mm diameter stainless steel cable for tow rope on my Quad, however it has quite a spring to it when wound tight around the winch drum. I noted that someone had mentioned that they had annealed their cable to soften it, my question is does anyone have any advice with regards this technique?

Thanks in anticipation

Regards

Dave

Hello Dave, on my former Quad, I used 'cord' spray painted, looks like steel cable, and is obviously very flexible. I tried annealing steel, with little success....Mick

Hi Michael,

I followed your Quad build with interest and found a number of very useful tips, I'm about to complete my chassis and start the wiring and will therefore refer back to your comments and the comments added by others. Thank you for the comment regarding the cable and your use of cord, the only problem I have at present is finding a suitable cord that looks like wire rope, i.e. tightly wound.

Good luck with your Panther build, which I'm also watching each update.

Regards

Dave
