Special Tool

Hi,
I have just come across a book that mentions that a special tool was required to remove the front Tiger sprocket. This was a cranked tube that fitted into the bored out hole on the upper nose plate. There is no description how this tool operated, but it looks like it acted as a jib for a block and tackle when trying to remove the heavy sprocket. I have often wondered what the bored aperture on the front plate was for as I have often read this was used to hold foliage to camouflage the vehicle and not for use as an anchor point.
Has any of you guys heard of this?
Cheers
