At the Chalke Valley History Festival yesterday, three German veterans recounted their experiences in WW2. One was a Fallschirmjäger who won the Iron Cross and the other two were Ritterkreuzträger - Knight's Cross holders - one a fighter pilot and the other a Panzergrenadier who served as an anti-tank gunner. The latter was Günther Halm, who at nineteen was the youngest winner of the RK. He was personally presented with the medal by Rommel. His story is here:
